Housing and homelessness

We see community development as a vital opportunity to harness the strengths and skills of individuals and communities and to provide them with opportunities to use them.

Housing and homelessness

The Housing First Approach recognises that stability is more likely to be achieved if an individual or family has and affordable, safe, permanent place to live. This approach harnesses the power of permanent, safe housing to help people recover and heal from the trauma of homelessness. It gives them a safe space in which to address the issues that may be stopping them from living the lives they want.

Northside is contributing to ending homelessnesss in our region by striving to:

  • Provide safe and affordable housing for people with a lived experience of homelessness.
  • Facilitate access to client centered, strength based and trauma informed support services
  • Deliver social inclusion in our community through asset based community development

Homelessness can happen to anybody and affects our entire community. Help us to end homelessness in the ACT.

Northside are proud members and state representatives on the Council of Homeless Persons Australia. We are also active members and representatives of Homelessness Australia, the national peak body for ending homelessness.
